Financial support extended to Victorians affected by floods

The Australian Government has extended support to more flood affected areas of south-eastern Australia making the one-off, non-means-tested Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment available for individuals across an additional 6 local government areas (LGAs) in Victoria.

In Victoria, the payment of $1000 per eligible adult and $400 per eligible child will be available from 2pm today to people who live in the LGAs of Buloke, Corangamite, Hepburn, Macedon Ranges, Melbourne and Pyrenees.

Supporting Victorians through flood clean-up

Joint clean-up funding, more operational support and wider relief payment eligibility has been made available today as tens of thousands of Victorians continue to deal with widespread flooding across the state.

Victorians whose homes and businesses are destroyed or damaged in the floods can have their properties cleared of hazards, and made safe, at no cost – thanks to joint funding from the Australian and Victorian Governments.

31 local government areas now subject to natural disaster declaration

Jointly funded Commonwealth-State disaster assistance is now available in 31 local government areas (LGAs) following severe flooding which began on 14 September and continues to impact large parts of New South Wales.

Assistance has been extended to the LGAs of Central Coast, Coonamble, Goulburn Mulwaree and Parkes.

Federal Minister for Emergency Management, Senator the Hon Murray Watt, said some regions had been subjected to multiple flooding events this year.

“These kind of repeated events can take their toll on communities who are trying to recover.

Disaster assistance for flood-impacted communities in Tasmania

Jointly funded disaster assistance is now available to 17 local government areas (LGAs) following severe flooding across Tasmania.

The LGAs include: Break O’Day, Burnie, Central Coast, Central Highlands, Circular Head, Devonport, Dorset, Flinders, George Town, Kentish, Latrobe, Launceston, Meander Valley, Northern Midlands, Waratah-Wynyard, West Coast and West Tamar.

Assistance is being provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA). 

Disaster Recovery Grants for Queensland Communities

Queensland communities affected by devastating weather events last summer will benefit from $19.5 million in Flexible Funding Grants (FFGs) to drive recovery and resilience projects.

The grants are provided by the Australian and Queensland governments through Category C of the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).
