Full access restored to Eungella Range

​Full access has been restored to Eungella Range on Mackay–Eungella Road after extensive work to clear landslip debris and damage caused by heavy rainfall and flooding in January. 

The road repairs and emergency works are jointly funded by the Albanese and Palaszczuk Governments through the Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA). 

Mackay–Eungella Road was temporarily closed to all vehicles at Eungella Range on 16 January. 

Flood support continues to flow for Territorians

The Albanese Government continues to assist with recovery from the Northern Territory floods, with locals urged to check what assistance is available.

In collaboration with the Northern Territory Government, the Federal Government is continuing to support Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA), which were activated earlier in the month, and enable residents from Victoria Daly and West Daly to apply for personal hardship and distress payments, temporary accommodation assistance and emergency home repairs.

Time extensions for Queensland flood assistance applications and more support activated

As the clean-up continues following the monsoon and flooding event in Northern and Central Queensland, more disaster support is being made available to impacted communities.

This includes an extension of time for Personal Hardship Assistance and the Essential Services Safety and Reconnection Scheme in Boulia and Doomadgee until Thursday 6 April, and support for Charters Towers Council to deliver counter disaster activities like sandbagging, and to repair essential infrastructure.

Contract signed for Fitzroy River Bridge replacement

Georgiou Group Pty Ltd, BMD Constructions Pty Ltd, and BG&E Pty Ltd have been awarded the contract to construct the new Fitzroy River Bridge in Western Australia’s Kimberley region. They will join WA Main Roads to form the Fitzroy Bridge Alliance.

Flood repairs underway on Toowoomba-Cecil Plains Road

Joint media release with the Hon Mark Bailey MP Repairs to sections of the Toowoomba–Cecil Plains Road which were damaged during heavy rainfall experienced in February and March last year have now commenced.

Works including repairing and resealing the surface, repairing culverts and cleaning drains will take approximately eight months to complete.

Assistance is being provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

More home repair help delivered to flooded Queenslanders

More assistance is being rolled out to Queensland communities severely affected by the ongoing monsoon floods.

Personal Hardship Assistance measures have now been extended to Doomadgee Aboriginal Shire Council and the entire Boulia region. These measures were previously made available to Burke Shire, Mount Isa Shire (Camooweal) and Urandangi.

Disaster assistance is now available for councils, primary producers and residents in Bathurst, Bogan, Brewarrina, Coonamble, Dubbo, Mid-Western, Walgett and Warren following severe bushfires earlier this month.

Assistance is being provided through the jointly funded Commonwealth-State Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements (DRFA).

Federal disaster payments activated for North Queensland floods

The Albanese Government has now activated federal disaster assistance payments to flood-affected Queenslanders experiencing ongoing extreme monsoon activity and rainfall.

The Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP) is available from today to residents in the Queensland Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Boulia, Burke and Mount Isa.
