A resource provides information on measures that can improve the resilience of households during a disaster or adverse weather event.
PBP applies to all development on bush fire prone land (BFPL) in NSW. There are a range of appropriate measures that are included.
For example;
- suitable defendable space
- access considerations
- vegetation management
- on-site emergency management arrangements
PBP also provides a planning framework. The framework is for developments in rural and urban areas close to land likely to be affected by bush fire. PBP is also applicable to the subdivision of land for certain purposes. These include:
- residential and rural-residential and special fire protection purposes
- developments under State Environmental Planning Policy
- Seniors Living
- schools
- hospitals
- and tourism developments.
These developments may present their own individual difficulties at times of an emergency. The PBP recognises this. The PBP also expands the considerations for infill developments. This is a dwelling within an existing allotment. Finally, the PBP establishes the bush fire planning objectives for:
- industrial
- commercial
- and warehousing types of development.
