Disaster recovery
Responding to a disaster can put significant financial pressure on a state or territory government. To help, the Government provides funding to assist with relief and recovery costs. We then manage these relief and recovery programs and initiatives that the funding pays for.

Disaster recovery payments
Financial help including the Disaster Recovery Payment (AGDRP) and Disaster Recovery Allowance (DRA) are available to support Australians after disasters. Find out more about whether you’re eligible for this disaster support and how to claim.

Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements
We provide funding to states and territories to share the financial burden of responding to a disaster.

After a disaster, the faster communities recover the faster people can continue their lives. We've been working with Disaster Relief Australia to provide relief and recovery support following a disaster.

The North Queensland Recovery and Resilience Package (NQRRP) helps local communities recover from, and prepare for, future floods.

The National Bushfire Recovery Fund was established to support communities and businesses to recover and rebuild by supporting locally led efforts on the ground, with flexibility in its design to support short, medium and long-term recovery needs.

On 10 June 2024, DRA opened its National Operations Centre (NOC) in Brisbane. The Hendra-based facility will serve as the headquarters for DRA's operations.
