Alex Nichols, Director of Strategic and International Policy at the National Emergency Management Agency recently attended a global conference on disaster risk reduction led by the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction. Alex highlighted how disaster risk reduction affects decisions like where we live, how we build and understanding where risks in communities are so we can do everything possible to keep people safe.
We’re learning from global best practice and listening to communities on the ground to develop our programs that reduce risk, mitigate impact and support Australians to recover and prepare for disasters.
