Coordination and Planning Officers
Coordination and Planning Officers
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is supporting communities impacted by disasters.
State and Territory Governments have the primary responsibility for preparedness, response and recovery, and NEMA works alongside them to support and supplement their resources and capability. In this context, NEMA champions a community-informed, State and Territory led, and federally facilitated approach to building our country’s disaster resilience and supporting communities when they need it most.
NEMA Coordination and Planning Officers are located across Australia in metro and key regional locations, working in partnership with states and territories to seamlessly support disaster-affected communities, and deploy alongside them when required, to collectively build resilience, reduce risk and harm, and effectively respond to and recover from disasters.
Our Coordination and Planning Officers ensure stronger coordination with States and Territories, more joined up support for communities and an ability to surge support across the nation when required.
NEMA’s Coordination and Planning Officers are an evolution of the former Recovery Support Officer and Regional Planning Officer networks. By bringing the two networks together, NEMA is supporting the state, territory and local governments, and communities, across the full disaster continuum.
