Quotes attributable to Federal Emergency Management Minister Senator the Hon Murray Watt:

We continue to work with New South Wales disaster recovery agencies to ensure communities experiencing ongoing recovery needs can access much-needed support.

We know that the economic recovery of flood-impacted regions is crucial to their long term wellbeing. That is why we are providing support for medium businesses to assist in their restoration and help lift local economies back on their feet.

The important work our community and volunteers provide both during and following natural disasters also needs to be recognised which is why funding is being invested to ensure much needed recovery services delivered through community-led social recovery programs continues.

Quotes attributable to New South Wales Deputy Premier Paul Toole:

Whether it’s helping get people back in their homes, locals back in jobs, or businesses re-opening, we will continue to roll out the support needed to get our flood-affected communities back on their feet and local economies moving again.

This latest funding builds on the $6.1 billion we have committed to flood recovery in the past year, sending the strong message that no matter where you live in the State, or at what stage of recovery, we will continue standing by our communities and leave no one behind.

Quotes attributable to New South Wales Minister for Families and Communities Natasha Maclaren-Jones:

“There are many organisations on the ground who are still working tirelessly to help those who were impacted by the devastating floods, and they deserve our support,” Mrs Maclaren-Jones said.

“This is the second round of grants to support flood-affected communities, following on from the successful Northern NSW program last year, where we have seen many community organisations make a huge contribution to the relief efforts.

“It is the NGOs that are often the heart of our communities, and they are vital to the flood recovery effort. Supporting them means we are supporting the communities as they continue to rebuild.”

Quotes attributable to New South Wales Minister for Flood Recovery Steph Cooke:

“The Back Home grant and Rental Support Payment are designed to give flood-impacted residents the short term relief they need to get back into their properties and focus on the longer term recovery,” Ms Cooke said.

“The NSW Liberal and Nationals Government will continue to support communities across the State at whatever stage of the recovery process they may be at.”

The extended disaster recovery packages are jointly funded by the Australian and NSW governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
